Tile Trends 2023 | Our top picks

  • Whether you're looking for bathroom tiles, kitchen tiles or beyond, one thing is certain: tiles are a versatile and hard-wearing surface for any room in the house. We've had the privilege of seeing and building many beautiful bathrooms and kitchens over the years, so we know the key tile trends for 2023 like the back of our hand. Here are our top picks for this year.

    1. White Tiles with White Grout

Minimalist interiors have been an ongoing trend for years, and the use of white tiles with white grout is a perfect embodiment of this aesthetic. White tiles are a timeless and classic choice that can add a sense of calm and spaciousness to any room. When paired with white grout, the tiles create a seamless, cohesive look that feels modern and fresh. This trend is particularly popular in bathrooms and kitchens, where a clean and uncluttered look is often desired. One thing to remember is that white grout can stain easily so consider using a grout sealant or upgrade to an epoxy grout to avoid this and ask your tiler to keep the spacing between your tiles small.

    2. Sideways Chevron Tile Layout

Chevron tiles have been a popular choice for some time now, but in 2023, we can expect to see a new take on this classic pattern. The sideways chevron tile layout is a unique and eye-catching way to incorporate this trend into your space. Instead of the traditional diagonal pattern, the tiles are laid in a horizontal zigzag, creating a playful and dynamic look. This trend is particularly well-suited to larger areas, such a feature full tile wall, where the pattern can be really admired. If you love the look of a subway tile bathroom, this is one way to do it with a little extra interest.

    3. Finger Tiles

Finger tiles, also known as kitkat or stick tiles, are a trendy and versatile option for creating a statement wall or backsplash. This option gives beautiful texture to any space and contrasts nicely with larger tiles on other walls or floors. Finger tiles are small and can therefore be a fiddly and time-consuming job for your tiler to lay, which is another reason why many people choose to just do one wall with these and use larger ones for the other surfaces.

    4. Large tiles

For this 2023 tile trend, the bigger the better. The above bathroom utilised large rectangle tiles in a soft grey for the walls and large square tiles in contrasting black for the floor. This approach is excellent if you want to create a wet room (a room where water can land on most surfaces without causing damage) for a kid's or family bathroom. Not only is this look incredibly stylish, but it makes it easy to cover a large surface area and is easy to clean (ever mopped your walls?).

    5. Patterned Moroccan tiles

Another tile trend that is set to make a big impact in 2023 is patterned Moroccan tiles. These tiles have been popular for a while now, but in the coming year, we can expect to see them used in new and exciting ways. Moroccan tiles are known for their intricate geometric patterns and bold colours, and they can add a sense of texture and warmth to any space. Whether used as a backsplash in a kitchen or a feature wall in a living room, patterned Moroccan tiles can create a striking and memorable focal point. This trend is helpful for people who are concerned about how they can add character to a new build.
