David Reid Homes Counties showhome nabs Supreme NZ Kitchen Design Award

  • The smart and sophisticated design of David Reid Homes Counties’ show home has resulted in a Supreme NZ Kitchen Design Award at the 2018 NKBA - NZ Excellence in Design Awards for its kitchen.

The European design inspired kitchen won a total of six awards at the event, predictably the first of many.

David Reid Homes Counties worked in synergy with award-winning architect Andrew Daly of AD Architects, interior designer Harriet Pilkington from Young + Richards, and kitchen designer Leonie Metge of Cube 3 Canterbury to create the luxurious family home in Karaka Lakes.

The team had a vision to create a home fit for entertaining, and the beautifully designed kitchen quickly became it’s centrepiece, sitting directly in front of a set of expansive sliding doors and overlooking impressive views of the development’s lake, fountain and bridge.

It features a cantilevered limestone benchtop and handcrafted vertical American Oak timber cabinetry.

Careful design ensures the kitchen is cohesive with the entire home, which incorporates a range of features designed to contribute to an overall contemporary look and feel.

This begins outside with three key materials making up the exterior of the home; concrete tilt panel, metal euro colour steel flat tray profile, and abodo timber cladding, arranged cleverly to fit into its natural surroundings.

The entrance showcases a beautifully patterned steel screen and a reclaimed steel folding staircase within, as well as the American Ash ceilings which extend from the hallway, up the stairs and into the home’s quiet bedroom spaces, cleverly tucked away from entertaining areas.

A large bay window seat in the main living area makes the most of lake views, and flows seamlessly onto a large undercover outdoor deck, which is perfect for entertaining.

This home has two staircases separating the master suite from it’s other bedrooms, making it suitable for a family with teenage children or someone who often has guests.

A luxurious feel is included throughout, with underfloor heating on the entire ground floor and all bathrooms, which are impeccably designed and feature floor to ceiling Italian tiles.

Matte black lighting switch gears and automated wireless home lighting technology confirms that style and smart technology go hand in hand; a NERO System by Schneider Electric enabling the eventual home owners to control their lighting remotely.

This stunning home is open to view daily at 8 Edgewater Drive, Karaka Lakes from 11am until 4pm, or by appointment. You can also explore it further here
