New Franchise expands David Reid Homes into East & South Auckland

David Reid Homes is excited to announce our further expansion in the City of Sails with a brand new Franchise in East & South Auckland. Headed up by Matt Strang, the new franchise is set to bring the award winning legacy of David Reid Homes to Clevedon and the lifestyle areas of the Southern and Eastern Bays of Auckland. Matt believes Clevedon is Auckland's best kept secret; it’s safe, close to beaches and has a fabulous sense of community. A Clevedon local himself, he understands the area well and is a part of the community there.

Matt has been working in the construction business for over 20 years. From delivering over 60 homes a year in a previous role, to working on subdivisions and major civil construction projects with Fletcher Building such as the NX2 Puhoi to Warkworth, Matt understands the multiple facets of the building industry. It was the potential he saw in the growing suburb of Clevedon, coupled with family and other relationships with David Reid Homes over the years which made the timing for taking the leap and opening a new franchise just right. Matt’s extensive range of experience throughout the entire build industry gives him a thorough understanding of all aspects of the build process, from design right through to budget management.

With 5 builds coming to contract within the next year, the franchise is set to start off with a bang. Demand is high in the green, rolling hills of East and South Auckland, and Matt is excited to help people bring their dream homes to life in the region. He prioritises the full experience for his customers, as a rule of thumb limiting his builds to 10-12 high quality homes a year.

When it comes to the build process, Matt prioritises communication between his clients, himself and his team right from the beginning. This process will usually begin with 2 or 3 face to face meetings with Matt, often on site, to really understand your vision and ultimate wishlist. From here he will suggest design ideas to bring your vision to life, and move towards a concept, keeping your budget at the forefront of his mind. The on site visits provide Matt and his team the opportunity to properly get to know the land, and how to maximise the positives of the site and the orientation of your home. 

Matt is very involved with the design process, explaining that it often is his favourite part of a new home build. His thorough design process can be broken down into 6 main steps. Beginning with the initial 1-2 site visits with his architectural partner, the pair assess the site and its possibilities. From here, he will spend some time at a Showhome with you to get inspired and further clarify what you want your new home to look like. The initial concept is then drafted, and presented to you with a concept floor plan, and around 2 projections of the exterior. At this stage, the fine tuning begins. Tweaking and discussing the proposed plan, Matt collaborates with you to determine the final design for your new home. Here, cladding and other major materials are also locked in. Finally, the build is priced and the work begins!

With interest in the area fast increasing, there are multiple large projects coming on stream in the next 12-36 months, with 80-100 site titles in Clevedon alone. Matt also has land available in smaller projects, with 8-10 sites in the village with titles due in May 2022. For those looking to build larger homes with plenty of space, Matt and his team have access to larger sites of 4000-6000 square metres within just 2 minutes of the Clevedon Village. Drury and Beachlands also offer a variety of opportunities for country style living. Matt understands the importance of choice when it comes to land sites, and keeps a strong relationship with local developers in order to be able to offer maximum choice and opportunity for his clients, now and for years to come.
