Medium Density Housing Showcase in Hamilton

  • David Reid Homes Waikato have epitomised medium density living with their latest show home, a stunning two storey townhouse on River Road in Hamilton.

Designed to enhance easy living, it comprises a mix of claddings with Hinuera stone contrasting effortlessly with the grey Triclad weatherboard.

Each space in the home has been carefully designed with usability in mind, creating a functional, low maintenance, and luxurious home.

The large copper entrance door exudes luxury, and invites visitors to explore what lies beyond.

Once inside, the stunning and well thought-out design strikes the perfect balance between function and form.

Medium density housing is about optimising smaller building sites by designing and building homes which maximise living space, and this show home exemplifies how this can be achieved well with both style and functionality at the fore.

A double garage with internal access, three bedrooms, separate toilet and laundry make up the lower level of the home, with the master suite and multiple living areas upstairs.

Once again, Director Ben Green and Interior Designer Charlotte Anselmi teamed up to coordinate the colours, textures, products and design aspects of the home’s interior.

Charlotte took time to ensure each space had its own feel, while ensuring they were cohesive with the rest of the home.

“Just like anyone starting their own project, after digesting the plans and understanding the spaces, I then choose a single starting point to kick the home off.”

“This could be a whole room I have a particular idea for or a single item such as a piece of art or furniture, a paint colour, a piece of flooring or a light fitting,” she says.

In addition, elements of the home’s exterior have been brought inside the home, with the Hinuera stone also used as a feature wall in the media room, and to form the impressive fireplace in the dining room.

The oak staircase also acted as a source for inspiration for the home.

“The partial floating of the stair design was something Ben wanted from the very beginning, and it works brilliantly to add interest and light to the hall, and finishing them in American White Oak compliments and enhances the neutral colour scheme of the common areas of the home," Charlotte says.

You can view the home yourself Thursday through to Sunday from 12pm until 4pm, at 930b River Road, Queenwood.
