The 175sqm, three-bedroom, two-bathroom home won the national New Home up to $450,000 category at the 2019 National Registered Master Builder Awards at the weekend.
Nikki Mackay, who co-owns and operates the business with her husband Aaron Mackay, says they are absolutely delighted with the win.
“We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing team of hard-working builders and our incredibly diligent sub contractors, who all help bring our concepts to life and make our clients’ dreams come true,” Nikki says.
The award-winning home has a monopitch design and elevated ceiling to maximise light and warmth. Glass sliders which open off the main living area to a deck with a pergola, enhance the feeling of space and freedom.
Built on a 550sqm section in a new subdivision in Weston, Nikki says the home was designed to make the most of the available space and incorporated top quality fittings and contemporary design features to showcase what could be done on a smaller section.
“Winning such a prestigious award shows that with innovative design and excellent craftsmanship, small homes can absolutely have all the comfort and personality of larger homes, with the added benefit of being more affordable as well.”
A second architecturally designed home - also designed and built by the Waitaki and Canterbury David Reid Homes team - made it into the Top 100 list and was awarded Regional Category Winner, Regional Lifestyle, and the Gold award for Mid to South Canterbury.
