David Reid Homes Recognised at 2015 House of the Year Awards

  • David Reid Homes has again been recognised among New Zealand’s best home designers and builders, at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards, picking up the elite Gold Reserve award in four of the seven homes they entered.

    David Reid Homes Counties Manukau, Wellington Region, Nelson/Tasman/Marlborough, Canterbury and Dunedin all attended the regional events hosted by Registered Master Builders during July and August, and came away with awards for homes they’ve designed and built in the past year.

    The Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards is one of New Zealand’s most highly regarded competitions in the residential building industry. It celebrates building excellence, awarding the best homes, builders and the craftsmanship behind them.


    David Reid Homes Nelson/Tasman/Marlborough’s award winning Richmond show home

    The Nelson team excelled with their Japanese inspired, innovative show home in Richmond receiving both Gold Reserve and Gold. They were also recognised for their exceptional attention to detail winning best show home, best bathroom, best interior design, and the ultimate prize for any builder – the Craftsmanship award.

    Paul says the multiple awards reflected their dedication and passion for designing and building unique, innovative homes.

    “When designing a home it is important to consider the aesthetic values including how it will sit on the site, how it will look from different angles and how it will interact with the natural environment. With this home we wanted to create a very organic and sustainable home, melding warm, sustainable cedar, crisp white walls and modern black joinery.”


    David Reid Homes Counties Manukau’s award-winning home

    A grand piano was the inspiration for the family home by the Counties Manukau team. Picking up both Gold Reserve and Gold awards in the $1-2m category, this remarkable home was crafted for a family with a passion for music.

    David Reid Homes Wellington region were thrilled to pick up seven awards for the three homes they entered in this year’s competition, lifting their awards-to-date to a staggering 49.

    Winning Gold Reserve, Gold and Lifestyle awards in the $1-2m category for an ultra-modern family home in Waikanae, as well as Gold Reserve, Gold and Category awards in same category for another breathtaking family home in Seatoun, Tim Sunderland from David Reid Homes Wellington Region says the awards reflected their design-driven approach.

    “At David Reid Homes Wellington Region, we are design driven – we work very closely with architectural partners and our clients to create bespoke homes that are uniquely different. A large percentage of our clients choose our design and build option which allows for their home to be reflective of the way they live, to fit neatly on the land they own and complement their budget.”

    The team also received a Bronze award in the $650,000-$1million category for a modern, welcoming executive home in Seatoun.


    David Reid Homes Canterbury won a Silver award for this spacious West Melton home

    In Canterbury our team are celebrating a Silver award in the $400,000-$500,000 category for their generous, super-functional family home in a new subdivision in West Melton, south of Christchurch.

    Chris Solly of David Reid Homes Canterbury says he has committed to rebuilding Canterbury after the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011, and this home is a prime example of how the team is delivering beautiful, unique homes for Cantabrians.

    “Ultimately, our goal is to design and build a home that exceeds expectations. We have a team of professionals with a lot of industry experience to help guide you through the entire process from conception to completion.”


    David Reid Homes Dunedin’s beautiful beachside home that picked up a bronze award at the House of the Year Awards

    David Reid Homes Dunedin owners Richard Copland and Nigel O’Leary were very happy with their win, saying it was a reflection of their hard working team’s passion for building quality homes.

    “We understand the importance of craftsmanship and over the years we have developed long-standing relationships with contracting experts who share our passion for delivering a high quality home.”

    The team picked up a bronze award in the $400,000-$500,000 category for a contemporary family home, with sweeping views of Dunedin’s rugged coastline.

    The Registered Master Builders 2015 House of the Year National Gala awards evening will be held on Saturday 14 November.
