Modern Family Living Captured in Orewa Showhome

  • David Reid Homes North Shore have opened the doors of their newest show home, one which epitomises family living.

Franchise director Martin Wiltshire says the Orewa home, which has been around 12 months in the making, showcases their vision for spacious homes which are simplistic, yet sophisticated.

With a floor area of just over 300 square metres, the home is designed to fit the brief of their most commonly requested design and build; a modern family home, Martin says.

“Our most popular request at the moment is for four to five bedrooms, with a study, and of a reasonable size, around 300-odd square metres; so it’s based around our typical market.”

The aim was to align that brief with their signature style of well lit, and well presented homes.

“Clean lines with the feeling of light and space is the basis for all our designs, no matter what size the house is,” Martin says.

Creating a cohesive home which catered to all members of a family was paramount, and resulted in an adult oasis on the entire upper level of the home.

“That area is very separate from the rest of the house, there’s nothing else on that level … we’ve tried to create an adult’s area and it has been very well received,” Martin says.

Viewers of the home have also shown interest in the large open plan living area downstairs, as well as the large kitchen and scullery, finished with pitched ceilings.

Large windows, sliding stacker doors and skylights have been used to maximise natural light throughout the home, Martin says.

“It’s that simplistic, but sophisticated approach … creating light and space, and clean lines.”

Privacy has been added to the downstairs level of the home with a second lounge that can be closed off, a separate bedroom area, and a study nook adjoining the open living space.

David Reid Homes North Shore had input with the design of the home from architecture company 360 Build, with a large part of the design coming from their own experience.

“A large part of all our designs are our own input; we pride ourselves in playing a very big part in the design process as we’ve done it a lot of times and we know this type of house very well,” Martin says.

“Our aim is to maximise the expectations of the client in the most affordable way possible.”

Viewing is open from 12pm until 4pm Thursday to Sunday, at 11 Syd Grant Crescent, Orewa.
