When planning their latest showhome at Sterling Park, Prebbleton, the team at David Reid Homes Canterbury took their inspiration from within the David Reid Homes family.
Canterbury General Manager Chris Solly says taking inspiration from an existing home for their Prebbleton showhome meant the foundations of the build were already there.
“We actually based the design of this home on a former Kapiti showhome,” he says.
“It was a really good house and they had had a lot of good feedback; so we used their plan and adapted it to fit the Canterbury lifestyle.”
Designed to fit harmoniously into its natural surroundings, the home places emphasis on combining eco credentials with modern design and quality fittings, and easy entertainment was a strong focus.
“We put a few of our own twists on the design,” Chris says.
“We added some outdoor louvres after the build and created a really cool outdoor area, it’s another 20 square metres of living area, which is outdoors, but still covered.”
Like the Kapiti home, this Sterling Park beauty features a seamless design, emphasised in the kitchen and dining areas by a hidden scullery, integrated fridge/freezer, and a large, custom-made dining table, designed by Nicky Claridge of NC Design.
Polished concrete floors link the kitchen and dining areas to the rest of the home, while full-height, easy to clean tiles carry the seamless design into the bathrooms.
“Our feedback has been really positive, people love the polished concrete floors and the cedar in the kitchen,” Chris says.
