Cure Kids

Cure Kids is the face of the Child Health Research Foundation – an organisation established over 30 years ago to address the lack of research into life-threatening childhood illnesses in New Zealand. Since then, we have invested over $19 million in medical research. This research has helped save hundreds of young lives and has improved the quality of life for thousands of children. Today, we are more committed than ever to help find answers to the many cruel, life-threatening illnesses that devastate the lives of young children and their families.

David Reid Homes first began its links with Cure Kids in 2005 when a house was built in 24 hours, during the Wanakafest, raising $179,000 for the charity.

“Since that fantastic event we have had a strengthening, ongoing relationship with the company,” says South Island Funding Manager Josie Spillane. “David Reid Homes’ decision to join us as a key partner will go a long way toward helping us achieve our medical research goals.”

David Reid Homes has committed to three buildathon projects during the next six years to raise funds for Cure Kids. The locations will alternate between the North and South Islands with the first project in Christchurch, during the Royal New Zealand Show, on November 12 and 13 this year.

“What better way to give back, than to build a house to raise funds to support Cure Kids in their mission of ‘turning research into hope.’ Maybe in a small way we, along with support from our suppliers, can help lighten the load for children with an illness.”

Mucking In

David Reid Homes is a premium sponsor of ‘Mucking In’, a television series that celebrates New Zealand’s unsung heroes. David Reid Homes is an integral member of the ‘Mucking In’ team, who, along with people from the local community, band together to transform a nondescript backyard into a designer garden as a gift for the recipient. The David Reid Homes team is proud to assist with ‘Mucking In’ and is pleased to show its appreciation of those who have done so much for others in the community.
