10 Step Building Process

At David Reid Homes we custom design and build every house to suit each clients specific needs. Through our 10 step building process we will sit down and listen to your needs, not just at the start, but all the way through the building process.

We realise that everyone is different, and therefore every house must be different. From specifications through to progress updates and budgets we manage the entire process for you, to ensure that your dream home becomes a reality.

  1. Visit one of our Show Homes

    • We have stunning Show Homes in most regions around the country
  2. Meet with our Building Consultant

    • Listen to your requirements and discuss your ideas
    • Discuss budgets and timelines
    • Visit the site if you have already purchased land
  3. Meet with our Architect/Designer

    • Note that you are welcome to use your own architect/designer
    • Draw together your ideas and our experience to produce a design brief
    • Sign Concept Authorisation Form
  4. Presentation of Design Concept & Estimate

    • We present the design concept to you
    • Supported by an initial price estimate
  5. Prepare Detailed Addendum

    • Your Building Consultant will assist you in preparing a detailed Addendum schedule for your home.
    • This will cover everything from roofing to door knobs
  6. Prepare Working Drawings

    • Sign Working Drawings Authorisation form
    • Based on the design concept and addendum, our draughtsman will prepare the detailed working drawings for the construction of your home
    • Initiate interior design process
  7. Fixed Pricing

    • Using the working drawings and addendum our Quantity Surveyors will price your home in detail
    • Your Franchise owner and Building Consultant will present the final pricing to you for sign off
  8. Documentation Completed

    • Sign all contractual documentation including relevant guarantees
    • Application for Building Consent lodged by David Reid Homes
    • Start date determined & timeline agreed
  9. Project Management

    • Construction begins
    • Regular site meetings
    • Progress reports
  10. Move Into Your New Home

    • Construction completed
    • Home is commercially cleaned
    • Final quality control checks
    • Final client inspection & orientation
    • Completion Certificate obtained
    • Master Build/Homefirst Guarantee received
    • Code of Compliance signed off
    • 90 day maintenance period begins
