Coming to New Zealand? David Reid Homes is here to help with your dream home down under. Here are some examples of an English couple building a home in New Zealand with David Reid Homes (Canterbury) Ltd.
Testimonial from Alan and Dilys Hardy
Alan and Dilys Hardy faced a mammoth task – creating a brand new home while they were literally across the globe. The English couple had bought a piece of land in a prestigious Christchurch subdivision and were back home near Winchester, while they set about designing and building a new home for the site.
They knew selecting the right building company was crucial. “We went through a lot of showhomes in Christchurch, while we were out here on
holiday. In the end we chose David Reid Homes because their reputation was outstanding,” says Alan. “We were told by so many people, that they were the best builders so we visited them to see if they were up the challenge of building a home while their clients were on the other side of the world – they were,” adds Dilys, For the next few months, the pair was in constant email contact with David Reid Homes (Canterbury) Ltd as they set about designing the home.
“It was great – even though we were offshore we were 100% involved in the design process. We’d send off an email with a list of questions and always had answers within 24 hours; the company’s consultant was excellent,” says Dilys.
“We exchanged a total of 180 emails with David Reid during that time!” laughs Alan. The couple say they most appreciated the company’s honesty.
“What’s great about David Reid Homes is that on the odd occasion they don’t know the answer to your question they’ll be honest about that – they’ll also go away and promptly find you an answer,” says Alan.
The Hardy’s home used many high-tech materials and techniques and has gone onto the win the coveted Future Proof Building Award at the 2007 Canterbury Masterbuilders’ Association House of the Year Awards and the Gold Award in the New Homes $450,000 - $600,000 category.
“We love the home – it’s light and airy and a joy to live in,” says Dilys.
“My job as a cement manufacturer has seen us live in homes all around the world – from the UK to Africa, the Middle East and South America. In fact, we’ve lived in 18 houses…so to say this David Reid Home is the best we’ve lived in is a real compliment,” concludes Alan.
