David Reid Homes - Whangarei

When Whangarei franchise owner Steve Greer was 10 years old, he already knew what he was going to do.

“I started building barns and other farm buildings on my parents’ farm, so when I left school it was a natural progression for me to go straight into building and I haven’t looked back since.”

After finishing his apprenticeship, Steve worked in Queenstown for a period and then on the Gold Coast’s Q1, the world’s tallest residential building, before returning to Whangarei to start his own business building custom designed houses.

Timber framed, tilt slab and concrete block all feature on his project resume. Having made a name for himself building distinctive homes, he was approached by David Reid Homes to take over the Whangarei franchise.

With our own teams of qualified builders we can ensure and maintain quality construction every time. Working hand-in-hand with a professional team of sales and administration managers, clients will have an enjoyable and hassle-free building experience.

We have nine full-time staff, including six qualified builders/carpenters.

We are currently building a spec build at McLeod Bay, the valuation upon completion estimated to be in excess of $1million and is similar in design to our showhome at Tutukaka. We are also developing a residential sub-division on Riverside. 

We work alongside a select group of real estate agents within the Whangarei area, to secure sections for clients and can negotiate section purchases on their behalf.

We only use sub-contractors who consistently deliver the high quality that we demand for our projects.  When we quote for a build we include EVERYTHING so the customer knows exactly what their new home is going to cost.  There are no hidden extras, neither is there a long list of exclusions.  Typically the only items we don’t include are resource consent fees and Geo-tech report fees.

To help first-time home builders understand what’s involved in the home building process, we run Home Builders Seminars.  These evenings are free to attend and cover a wide range of topics. They include presentations from the design experts we use to put together a project and cover everything from finance and building consents through to lighting, colours and future proofing.
